Seventh Annual Homelessness Action Week in Metro Vancouver  October 7 – 13 | www.stophomelessness.ca

(Vancouver, B.C.) – Across Metro Vancouver, hundreds of organizers and volunteers have begun preparations for the seventh annual Homelessness Action Week sponsored by the Greater Vancouver Regional Steering Committee on Homelessness. Activities will include Homeless Connect Events (service fairs for people who are homeless), public events (like film nights) and a public awareness campaign focused on ‘Strengthening Community’.

“The Community Homelessness Tables are local groups that play an important role in providing leadership, information and locally focused solutions for homelessness throughout Metro Vancouver,” commented Alice Sundberg, Co-chair of the Regional Steering Committee. “Local volunteerism is helping to make communities more welcoming and inclusive, and this year we will profile some of those key individuals on our website.”

As in previous years, there are events planned throughout Metro Vancouver, including a number of Homeless Connect Events for people who are homeless or precariously housed. Details of HAW events in municipalities across the region are posted on the Community Calendar pages at www.stophomelessness.ca. Last year there were over 100 events posted.
