Night at the Inn
Date: Saturday, October 15th
Time: 7:00pm
Place: Inn from the Cold – 1157 Sutherland Avenue
• Sponsor a “Night at the Inn.” Groups can donate the cost of operating the Inn for one
or more nights. The sponsor is featured on our webpage for the entire season and plays an integral part in keeping the Inn open.
• Overnight at the shelter. Join a group of participants overnight at the shelter. Individuals
gather pledges, and the person with the most pledges will win a luxurious one-night stay at Sparkling Hills Resort.
• Support. Volunteers will find ways to support and be supported by hearing a panel of
speakers, tour the shelter, and learning about volunteer opportunities
Speakers are to include Sean Spears (Rain City Housing, Vancouver), Kelowna Mayor Sharon Shepherd and UBCO School of Social Work assistant professor Shirley Chau.
During the evening, you can also learn:
- what happens when guests arrive
- how other agencies fit in
- screening
- where the money comes from
The overnight participant who gathers the most pledges will win an evening in a deluxe room at the world-renowned Sparkling Hills Resort (other prizes include a gift set from Barefoot Venus, a beautifully framed print from a street artist, and a cut and colour from Meg Hair Design). Tempting appies, beverages, prizes, live music and conversation are on offer.
