The City of Richmond is the first municipality in 2011 to Proclaim Homelessness Action Week 2011!
WHEREAS, Everyday in our municipality there are men, women, youth and children who do not have a place to call home; and
WHEREAS, Community action and participation are essential in addressing and eliminating issues and circumstances that contribute to homelessness; and
WHEREAS, During this week, activities and events will be offered and the community will be encouraged to participate and learn abut the many issues related to homelessness, about the community agencies that offer services and support to persons who are homeless, and about what each of us as citizens can do to help.
NOW, THEREFORE, I Malcom Brodie, as MAYOR of the City of Richmond, DO HEREBY PROCLAIM October 10 to 16, 2011, as “HOMELESSNESS ACTION WEEK”
